CROSSMOOR SECONDARY LEAVES A LEGACY

The funding of public institutions by the state has proven to be a tremendous challenge. Further, the method of classification of state institutions restricts the funding allocated to state schools. The finances available therefore, only meet the essential needs that just keep the school functional. This stifles the possibility for change and the opportunity to meet the ever changing developments in technology.

The question that arises is: Do we accept this destiny and continue to provide mediocrity or do we need to be enterprising and confront the challenge to become self-sustaining?

We have therefore embarked on an ambitious project to build a community/sports hall. This hall will serve all needs of the community of Crossmoor and the surrounding areas.

Kindly allow me to crystallize the objectives of the project.

SPORT:    To provide an indoor facility for action sport, promote sport management, identify talent and put them through an academy, establish a technology assisted sports centre, develop coaches and administrators, provide recreation for the less active.

COMMUNITY: Through lectures and talks by professionals, create an awareness of the various forms of abuse and the programmes to address them, facilitate leadership programmes and provide a facility that will meet the social needs (weddings and functions)

MEDICAL FACILITY: Establish a clinic that will bring treatment to the people, allow for the dispensing of medicines to patients from the area relieving the pressure at the local hospital.

EDUCATION CENTRE: Allow for extra tuition to be given to learners from our link school (Margot Fonteyn in Klaarwater), promote team teaching, bring the best educators to the learners, and promote a healthy lifestyle, host cluster meetings, workshops, debates, plays and conferences.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:  Short Term: a Manager, 2 Cleaners and 1 Admin. Personnel. Long term:   a Manager, 3 Cleaners, 2 Chefs and 35 waiters (casual/students)

PRESENTATION: A detailed presentation (with video slides) will be made to any  company/individual interested in offering financial assistance/sponsorship upon request.

SPONSORSHIP:  An appeal is made to individuals, parents, ex-students, ex-staff, business and finance houses, etc. to kindly offer their assistance in whatever way possible

COSTS: R3m has been spent to date. A further R8m is required for completion.
